about

"A Meditation" started as a piano improvisation that I later transcribed and arranged for small ensemble. The piece features lyrics written by Jocelyn Barth
—Ewen Farncombe

I listened to Ewen's melody over and over. At first it sounded perfect on its own, and I couldn't imagine adding anything to it. But eventually a mood and some images came to me, and I decided the song should be about meditation, heartache and loss.
—Jocelyn Barth

lyrics

Let it be nothing
Let it be nothing special
Same thing twice and again

Let it go by like seasons
Live as gently as forests breathing out

Feel the ground
Sturdy ‘neath the clouds of unknowing

Let it be lonely
Sitting alone, visualize it’s nothing
