As a beneficiary of privilege, my experience with and understanding of heritage is very different from the unprivileged and exploited. I have been able to pick and choose what I like from a widely available and broadly defined set of artifacts, traditions and rituals all my life. “Mileage” was composed using a melodic fragment from a piece of Anglican Church music and patterns derived from man-made objects found on the land in Ontario where my parents grew up – stolen land.
