Millionairs

from Volume Two by Collective Order

/

about

This poem by Charles Bukowski really resonated with me, and I thought it would make a great song for Collective Order. It's a harsh critique of the wealthy class, which I think has only become more relevant in our times of increasing wealth inequality. I wanted the song to evoke a 1920's Gatsby-esque classy party that slowly turns rotten and disturbing. The idea is for the music to reflect the message of the poem, which is that a life in pursuit of wealth is ultimately hollow and meaningless.
