about

I wrote this song in one sitting while looking out my window, viewing my backyard.
—Jocelyn Barth

lyrics

Outside my window a willow weeps for me
Soft, sad sounds reach my ears
For the wind does not compete

The trees hold me hand
The clouds understand
The porch light is my bright consciousness

But someone turned it off... temporarily
Or maybe they just dimmed it, just a little bit

Inside my home now, no one weeps but me
Harsh, lone sounds are my voice
And the winds don’t dare compete

The clouds are outside
The trees wave goodbye
I long to forget this and be with them

But someone had to go and turn the light on
Turn the porch light on
