about

Inspired by a crack in my bedroom window, "Take" is about loops, routines, and the sometimes mundane, sometimes extraordinary cyclic nature of everyday life. It is about the impact of both the amazing events and the little moments life has to offer. I developed this piece as part of an emerging artists program called 'Beats + Intentions', with Expect Theatre/Spark Collective. It was first performed during their exhibition at the 2016 Nuit Blanche Toronto.

lyrics

Walk, step, fall, bend, fly
Walk, step, fall, bend, fly
Walk, step, fall...

Two hours long I've stared
Up at my cracking ceiling
Still there, I should get up soon

Dress up and tie my shoes
Lock up the door and run
Here I go again, hope I catch this one

Take me away to fun
Take me away to the setting sun
Take me away to the heat
Let me in...

Make me a bid, I'll try
Make me a man, I'll go
To you, hope I catch this one

Take me to a train
Take me to a rooftop so I'll feel the rain
Take me by the hand
Let me in

Walk, step, fall, bend, walk, step, fall, bend
